Review of Mortal Engines (2018) by Alfred C — 26 Dec 2018
Kind of stunned at the reactions :-) There are some really fantastic things in here, but it really delivers on a cohesive story line with lots of pathos and suspense . . . unpredictability. I was reminded a bit of the movie "9", the animated one with the "stitchpunk" creatures, fantastic, but creative, clever.
Really good film-making in my mind, careful attention to every detail. Not at all a waste of a couple of hours. Does not take itself completely seriously, what with the carefully protected "Minion" statues, and, in their hour of deprivation, consuming 1,000 year old Twinkies.
THAT was satisfying.
