Review of Morning Glory (2010) by Francisco R — 05 Mar 2012

Top Breaking News, Morning Glory is an enjoyable film, I liked it, it does have a fresh script, but the movie it's still a bit clichéd, but what it matters is that I had a good time watching it, I was entertained and I laughed, I can say that this movie should be watched by everyone who likes to watch a movie just for fun with no pressiure. Sow, when I watched this movie's trailer, I thought that wa sjust going to be another comedy with clichéd romance envolved soI thought it was a chick flick, so when I ended to watch the movie, I realised that it was much better than I thought, it didn't had the stupid romance, only a bit and just because an actress takes the lead role I don't consider this movie to be a chick flick, I think that any boy or girl would like to watch it. Good movie.

Roger Mitchell directs the movie, he did a well job at it, he created the characters well and overall, he did a great job directing this movie. Rachel McAdams takes the lead role, she had a good perfomance and she interprated a great character, she wasn't really hilarious, but I think that it's genetic, actresses over thirty five are usually the ones who can actually make me laugh, but forget about it, Rachel was great here, not sure if it was the highlight of her career, Rachel is known from Midnight in Paris, Sherlock Holmes, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shaddows, The Time Traveler's Wife and some other movies. Harrison Ford is fantastic here, I think that the movie deserved to be considered as a comedy just because of him, I loved his perfomance, I loved his role and I loved the way that he made me laugh with his cruelty, he was really fantastic here, this was obviously not the highlight of his career, but this was obviously his funniest role ever, or perhaps is only, Harrison is known from Blade Runner, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and much other movies. Diane Keaton was good here, I liked her character and perfomance, but I thought that she was going to be just a female version of Harrison in this movie, but she turned out to not be, but I'm not gonna lie that she was funny sometimes, cause she was, Diane is known from The Godfather, The Godfather: Part II, The Godfather: Part III, Annie Hall and some other movies. Sow, as you can see, this movie has a great cast, there's also another good actors in the rest of the cast and even though they had unsignificant roles, they were okay and well picked, they really picked the actors well in here, and I'm glad they chosed all these good actors, almost all of them had a good perfomance and made me laugh a few times. Great cast (8.2/10).

Becky Fuller (Rachel McAdams) is a hard working TV producer that gets desperated to get a job after she got fired. After a long time looking for a job, she gets an opurtinuty to work on "Daybreak", a show with only eight or four viewers. She realises the job is tough and right after she hired the news reporter Mile Pomeroy (Harrison Ford), the job will get even harder. He will co-host "Daybreak" with Colleen Peck (Diane Keaton), wich will be dificult because of their bad social relation. Now, Becky will do everything to make Mike work well and she will also do anything to make sure that the ratings get higher and the show doesn't be cancelled.(What I though about the plot) Despite the few cliches in the plot, I actually liked it, it was well written and I would say that it's 65% fresh, it's smart and it worked well in this movie, I would might adjust one or two things but it's okay, I liked the script and it worked well in this movie. Great script (7.0/10).

Soundtrack, well, I do remember to be some themes, but they wer eno big deal, there were also a few songs, but they were also no big deal, the soundtrack didn't change even 0,01% of my opinion about this movie. It was just okay, average. Average soundtrack (5.0/10).

Besides all that, I am now going to tell you what I really thought about this movie. First of all, even though I liked this movie, I just think it could be slightly better, it had a bit of potential for it, but whathever, there's not lots of perfect movies but I think that this movie went well, I mean, I'm sure it must be inspiring for a few people and I'm sure it describes the current lifes of TV producers, this movie is also funny, smart and entertaining an don't forget that it has a great cast. The 6.5 on IMDb is just perfect, cause this might be the rate that is 100% equal to my rate on a scale of 1 to 10 and it shows that many people liked it and many just though it was okay and many , such as me, thought it was exactly in the middle. The jokes were good, I mean, there wasn't really lots of funny jokes, I laughed because of the characters cruelty and stuff, but yes it was funny, very funny indeed. Just a thing, I probably wouldn't consider it to be a rom-com, but yes a dramedy, it has mostly comedy envolved but the rest is basicly just a bit of drama, don't think that to you're about to watch a romantic comedy, cause you'll defenitly won't. Overall, I think this was a well done movie, it has a great cast, a great plot, it's entertaining, it's funny, it's smart and I had a good time watching it, don't expect to watch one of the best comedies ever made, but yes expect to watch a well made comedy, watch it, it's worth it. Morning Glory: 6.5/10. Good.
