Review of Morgan (2016) by Patrick D — 04 Sep 2016
I love this movie. So, I am quite surprised to see so many bad reviews.
What I find most interesting is that Morgan was designed as a weapon but raised as a child. It is a hypothesis of how a sufficiently advanced AI designed as a soldier would behave when put into a loving environment.
Morgan act like a child not because it has consciousness but because its algorithm decides that is the best course of action for its survival. And it works beautifully when its handlers began to treat it as a child.
With regard to Lee, it is interesting how to see how an AI could go about doing its job as instructed but a working level of courtesy.
The twist at the end is fine but for me the most interesting part of Morgan is its study of potential characters of sufficiently advanced AIs.
