Review of Moonstruck (1987) by Alvin Y — 06 Apr 2012
Moonstruck, Great Movies.
I will never ever expected that a moon will make some people crazy or be *in love*. Loretta, Ronnie, Johnny, Rose, Cosmo, Rita, Raymond, Mona, and Perry are all *Moonstruck*.
The central love story in this romantic comedy is fun and sparky thanks to 2 great central performances from Cage and of course, Cher, that won her an Oscar for best actress. She gets the opportunity to be a modern-day Cinderella, transforming from dowdy duckling to a glamour queen after a trip to a hair salon. But it's the supporting characters who add more taste to the movie, especially Lorreta's parents deliver words with such purity. It's truly a much imitated treat that has yet to be bettered.
As long as there are more movies like this one, we feel romance films today feels trashy and also being cliched. Moonstruck is truly a smart and a brilliant movie, whether you like it or not, each character's will make you inspired. It's truly a worthy performance about a woman who is not interested in love but falls unexpectedly because of the moon, and does the others as well. Probably next time, they will remake this, please not! It's a classic and a charming delightful movie. I really love this movie a lot!
