Review of Moonstruck (1987) by Robert I — 22 Jan 2013
I admit it; I don't get it. The film is very Italian culturally, which I have no investment in, but for those that do great. I found the story horribly contrived. Too many leaps of faith were asked of the audience.
The humor is a big swing and miss for me. I think Cher did a good job, but did she really deserve an Oscar!? In fact, did this movie deserve the few Oscars it was nominated for? Alright, so I think I know why this film resonates with some people.
.. But the critical impact it made in 1987 escapes me.
