Two twelve year olds fall in love and make a pact to run away together. While many may argue that Anderson's style of arty slapstick comedy may have gotten a little tiring and repetitive, a fact which he directly addresses in the film's opening sequence, there is no actual doubt about the quality of the films.

Moonrise Kingdom is a sweet natured film about first love, which evokes feelings of nostalgia and employs great photography techniques with great colour saturation. It feels like a genuine highpoing the filmmaker's career.
