The overall concept of this film about two troubled kids from opposite walks of life falling in love and running away together could have easily been a made-for-TV movie for Disney or Nickelodeon, but Wes Anderson makes it so much more than that. This film is kind of like Romeo & Juliet meets Bridge To Terabithia, but still feels original at the same time. It's a fascinating study of how kids view other kids, how kids view adults, how adults view kids, and how adults view other adults.

The performances in this film are all excellent, from Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward as the two main kids, Sam and Suzy, to Bill Murray and Frances McDormand as Suzy's parents, to Edward Norton as Sam's scout master, and Tilda Swinton as a woman named Social Services. Bruce Willis is also excellent as a sheriff, and it's nice to see him do a non-action film for once. Bob Balaban is excellent as well as the on-screen, unnamed narrator who tells the story by breaking the fourth wall and directly addressing the audience.

It's a unique film that shouldn't be missed by any film lover. 10/10.
