Review of Moonrise Kingdom (2012) by Jerry W — 27 Jul 2013
Wes Anderson's quirky shots not only inject life into an otherwise mundane story, but weave a world unto itself. What other directors would deliver as nonsensical or boring, Wes Anderson has mastered and transformed into a visual experience of bright colors and magic.
It seems that only Anderson can take the tale of a simple childhood crush and blow it up to grand proportions, all through clever yet unabashed cinematography. Bruce Willis plays one of his most memorable roles.
Anderson and the talented cast truly illustrate how magical the mundane can be. No hails of bullets or big explosions required. This is storytelling at its finest.
