Review of Moonrise Kingdom (2012) by Jarrid F — 03 Mar 2014
Wes Anderson's film "Moonrise Kingdom" is charming. His directing is superb in telling a scout master log of romance between Sam (Jared Gilman) a boy scout, and Suzy (Kara Hayward). His wide angel (one-frame) and animating character angle point-of-view shots, tell-the-tale of two pen pals who flee for love. This kid-friendly voyage will make you feel as if you were actually on New England's Penzance Island. Plus the soundtrack is adventurous. Anderson's minute eye for symbolism is clever - like the megaphone and binoculars. Personally the split screen phone conversation scenes between star cast members like Captain Sharp (Bruce Willis), Scout Master Ward (Edward Norton) and Social Services (Tilda Swinton) are uniquely fascinating.
"Godspeed.".
I highly recommend watching this 1 hour and 34 minute -PG-13 Rated - comedy film.
