Review of Moonrise Kingdom (2012) by Yunzhi O — 06 Mar 2014
"Moonrise Kingdom" is sweet and optimistic, and features some of Anderson's finest production design and camera work. Gilman and Norton are standouts. The overall experience is marred for me by the problematic nature of a story that requires child actors to participate in--the character's affable innocence notwithstanding-- sexual situations (not that these kinds of stories can't be told, but perhaps print is a better medium to explore such things rather than using real-life kids).
