Review of Moonrise Kingdom (2012) by Tyler R — 06 Jun 2013
Full blame goes to my local theater for not having this film. I haven't seen such an innocent and charming film in so long, I just can't remember. Moonrise Kingdom follows two love struck children as they run away just so they can be together.
The writing, the acting, the visuals, the orchestral score, everything is absolutely perfect in this film. All the actors, even the kid actors, are top notch. This is probably the most contained I've seen Bruce Willis and he nails it.
However, the immediate showstealer in Jason Schwartzman. As soon as he shows up, it's non stop laughs until he leaves. The visuals are gorgeous. Every scene gives off a warm, autumn feel. Overall, I'm exceptionally disappointed in my theater for not getting this film, but I'm exceptionally pleased in myself for finally watching it.
