Review of Moonraker (1979) by Kim A — 07 Jun 2009
I think this is my best 007 movie due to my likeness of Science Fiction. A very flimsy plot but great visuals from Derek Meddings and good chemistry with the cast. Michel Lonsdale was amongst the worst of the villains but I loved the score and scenery of this film.
The music has a luscious quality, especially when the film took us to outer space. John Barry definately left his mark on the series. When I saw Lewis Gilbert in a Q&A conversation @ BFI Southbank, he admitted this was the worst of the 007 films he did but I still liked the elements.
I think due to the success of the previous 007 entry, there was many elements taken from it. (The Magnificent Seven homage, the return of Jaws, etc.) Highly entertaining though 30 years on!
