Review of Moonraker (1979) by Daniel H — 22 Nov 2009
Who would've thought the James Bond franchise would try to capitalize on the Star Wars boom, not only by having the similar underground bunkers like the rebels did in Star Wars, but the dogfight between the U.S. platoon and villain Hugo Drax's henchmen, and a giant boa constrictor in place of the trash compactor monster.
Despite the global impact of his genocidal plans, Hugo Drax has to be one of the most drab of all Bond villains. The only unintentionally funny thing in the movie has to be metal-toothed villain Jaws falling in love with a girl who rescues him.
Nothing compared to Goldfinger, You Only Live Twice, or Diamonds Are Forever.
