Review of Moonraker (1979) by Monty H — 17 Dec 2012
A just okay entry in the series saved only by the presence of easy going Roger Moore as the unflappable James Bond and the truly outrageous stunts performed in this film. For this mission, 007 must track down who stole a space shuttle called Moonraker and find out what they intend on doing with it. There are some very cool action scenes like the opening parachute fight/chase scene at the film's opening and the amazing chase down the Amazon River. Richard Kiel returns as the henchman we all love-Jaws and Michael Lonsdale makes an effective villian named Drax. The Bond girl is played by the talented Lois Chiles who gets to rough house just as much as Bond. All in all, it's a standard caper that starts to get a little too far fetched. It's not the worst Bond film ever made though, I think you can enjoy most of the film if you don't think too much about it.
Miss Moneypenny: "Why are you so late, James?".
James Bond: "I fell out of an airplane without a parachute".
