Review of Moon (2009) by Nate B — 19 Nov 2012
Sam Rockwell gives an amazing performance. The scenery rivals any classic sci-fi film. The story is great until the climax. It almost seems as if the ending was tacked on like the conclusion of an undergraduate paper.
The film is masterful as an exploration of human reasoning in isolation. So why did Jones decide to suddenly turn it into a light-hearted corporate conspiracy story? What about the tire and foot imprints around the crashed vehicle? Why did the company provide a functioning escape rocket for a clone? There were hints at a conspiracy throughout the film, but it was only a very subtle theme.
Moon could have been a remarkable film with an ending that had stayed true the rest of the story.
