I saw Moon only because people in RT wrote that this film was better than Sunshine, so like always, I saw this with a lot of expectations. But they lied, this film is good, but nothing happens in here and some plot elements doesn't look that fresh, they seem to be more like cliches. The one that I mean is about the idea of clones to everything like memory implants etc. Sam Rockwell gives a good performance, but I was promised that it had be something huge and I didn't get that, so I am a bit disappointed.
How do you define science fiction? People say that the Spielberg films like Jurassic park and his alien films are good sci-fis, along with the first two Alien films, but where is science in there? There is just fiction and imagination, in that point of view, this film is a success, because it doesn't materialize on fiction, but the science that this film shows you is not that great as well. As for a great Sci-fi film, Spielberg's Minority Report is better than most of his other works, but it is mostly overshadowed by the useless War of the Worlds(2005), a Tom Cruise collaboration which was more successful than the former.
I am happy that this film didn't use the usual sci-fi cliche where a robot would be the major villain( here we have Gasky), like from I Robot to the Universal Soldier sequel to the many more such films. This film lacks a focus and even the 1 hour 37 minute duration seems too long because of utter predictability.
