Review of Moon (2009) by Michael C — 20 Jan 2014
After a single watch Moon has become one of my favorite movies ever. Jones was able to create such a fabulous character dynamic with Rockwell that was frankly astounding. The movie made sure the watcher was emotionally connected to the film.
The cinematography was amazing, and unlike many other sic-fi thrillers, it was remarkable in how real it seemed. Despite the fact that the entire story took place on the moon, it was the features of the station that made it seem so personal.
Everything besides the colony on the moon was feasible by modern standards or is at least something we can imagine having in the next 10 years. The cinematography was amazing. The landscape shots of the moon and the earth, though probably not original were stunning.
Mansell worked wonders with the score of the film, assuring that Jones' intended emotion was received not just through Rockwell's expressions, but also by the ambient noise surrounding his performance.
Moon is a first-class film and a must-see.
