Review of Monte Carlo (2011) by Cemore B — 20 Oct 2011
Harmless and forgettable. I'm not bothered by it. It isn't the awful mess it could have been. But that doesn't excuse it from being the usual bland 'romantic' film (and light 'comedy'?) that goes through the usual routines.
Yes, I know I always use the same words when it comes to these films but why should I write anything different when they don't make anything different? This one does the usual romantic France and posh British thing.
Oh, and there are the free-spirited Americans and an Australian who played Rugby. Normally that sort of stuff would wind me up but they keep things simple and don't turn it into anything truly painful to watch.
One thing I did have to keep reminding myself was that they were coming from the US, which isn't near France. Because I'm used to people just popping across the Channel to get there and so it is no big deal.
Anyway, there isn't much to say here that I haven't said about several other films. It is likely to appeal to the target market, and I didn't hate it. Just another one of those films.
