Review of Monsters: Dark Continent (2014) by Random V — 09 Jul 2017
Monsters was an indie love story disguised as an alien invasion movie. It was something new and different to a well worn genre. The sequel tries something completely different and fails. The Monsters are just back ground noise to a very cliched 'war is hell' movie.
The characters are over the top macho stereotypes and so you never really care what happens to any of these throw away characters. It's not a particularly long film but I felt it dragged and I kept hoping the Monsters of the title would wipe everyone else out so I didn't have to listen to anymore of their drivel.
Special effects remained decent but that's where the compliments end.
