Review of Monster's Ball (2001) by Dylan Y — 13 May 2012
A movie that is nothing but depressing. Heath Ledger gave this movie heart, once he died the movie died. The last conversation between Hank and Sonny before Sonny shoots himself was mesmerizing. The story was dull, its nothing you havent seen before.
Just told differently. The two leads Billy Bob Thortan and Halle Berry are hard to watch because you simply hate there characters. Hank admits to his son "Yea I hate you. Always did" causing Sonny to commit suicide.
Leticia hits and citisizes her cute chubby son for being too fat. Both of the kids die and Hank and Leticia later meet. Thus making connection and "hey lets have sex." The movie is about not knowing what you have until its gone and being desperate which is all te leads really are.
2/5.
