Review of Monsters (2010) by Andy S — 06 Apr 2012
WOW!! I think I've just witnessed a "Little Fat Girl" moment. Considering the money and talent involved this is a stunning production. My respect for Gareth Edwards is vast. On the film alone, while evoking a similar feel to District 9 and The Blair Witch Project it completely captured me with it's atmospheric dominance.
This is all about atmosphere and NOT seeing "The Monster". Great Sci-Fi at it's core, it also left me wondering if Edwards wasn't trying to make a statement about being on the run from the 3rd World and moving toward the promise of the United States.
Amazing score by Jon Hopkins as well. We will cover this film on a Saloon show probably in 2011 to some extent.
