Review of Monsoon Wedding (2001) by Radek C — 31 Jul 2009
Just like with any other foreign culture-based movie, it's more viewer-friendly if you ever found yourself within the specific society, or at least you have some interest in it. I do and I guess that's why I enjoyed The Wedding so much, the clash of tradition and somewhat unwanted Western behaviours, the true emotions fighting their way out, the family theme, the honor and many other elements.
Very energetic and, in a way, optimistic. That's the kind of cinema Indian cinematography should try to conquer the world with.
