Review of Monsieur Verdoux (1947) by Cam B — 11 Jul 2006
Our first trip to 'Geelong Classic Cinema' was great fun, and our reaction to our first Chaplin film was identical to the synopsis provided here by Flixster. A bizarre black comedy which becomes a little too strange and lengthy when Chaplin breaks character to preach about the machines of war.
Had he made his point quickly, it would have worked, however his continual preaching was slightly condescending and a disappointing end to an otherwise thoroughly entertaining film. Geez he would have been good at physical comedy!
