Review of Monkey Shines (1988) by Michael N — 27 Jul 2007
This is by no means a classically great film, but it is a phenomenally wonderful movie. Finally a movie that shows George Romero's heart! Though the monkey never achieves fear in the audience, it is a terrific villain.
Plus, evil monkeys are just hilarious. I also think there is a hidden message in this movie about man's struggle with his sexuality. The man is always struggling against his monkey who just wants to kill (fuck) everything, while his own mind tells him not to.
Sound familiar, fellas? Really a treat for horror/suspense fans.
