Review of Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan (2007) by Arvind Y — 18 Jan 2009
This is the larger part of the life of Genghis Khan, his early years which contrasts sharply with the rest of his life which he spent conquering a significant part of the early world. Truly touching but not overly sentimental.
The battle sequences were creatively executed and the cinematography, especially of the stormy weather was terrific. This didn't look like a movie I wanted to grab straight off the bat, but when I heard it was nominated for an Academy award for best foreign film, I had to watch it.
Highly recommended.
