Review of Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan (2007) by Jeff F — 17 Feb 2009
...if only they'd had films like this when I was learning history at school, I might have paid attention.
.....or maybe not ;-).
Filmed somewhat akin to Apocolypto, the story is entirely in what I imagine is the correct dialect spoken by the people of the time. The journey follows Genghis (or Temudgin) from a boy all the way through to the end of his life.
I was expecting the film to concentrate a lot more on the latter years than it did, but I wasn't disappointed. A really great film, although when he just "decides" to go off and start doing what he does best, I didn't really understand what was going on. It must have just felt like a good idea at the time.
