Review of Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan (2007) by Tyler W — 09 Mar 2009
I must say, I had one hell of a time getting attached to anything in this movie. It seemed to move at an incredibly slow pace, which wasn't helped by it's slow opening. I'm a firm believer that the the opening of any film, especially one of grand vision such as this, should open with a bang, then tell the story, etc.
There was a lot of romance in here, which is fine, but again, couldn't really get into it for whatever reason. It might have been the actors or the character themselves. Either way it just didn't appeal to me.
This is still worth a watch though for it's beautiful visuals and gruesome battles. Everything was choreohraphed well. It's nice to see a movie like this made, being someone interested in this era of history.
