Review of Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan (2007) by Jennifer G — 23 Mar 2009
Absolutely amazing, beautiful scenic camera work, deep insight into the old Mongolian culture. no to mention that until this movie, I hadn't really heard how beautiful the Mongolian language sounds.
and I'm not saying that to quote the movie. somewhat short on character development with the exception of Temudgen himself who always seems justified in his actions. the timeline was a bit jumpy, but I don't think things would have been the same if the movie moved completely chronologically and with every intricate detail.
the movie (for lack of a better word) "flowed" very very well. it's a two hour movie but it hardly felt like it took that long at all. if I had to compare it to another movie(s) about western historical stories I would have to compare it to either Gladiator possibly 300.
if you didn't like those then don't let that turn you off to this movie.
