Review of Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan (2007) by Joy B — 22 Jan 2010
As far as historically-inaccurate biography/epic goes, this was at least entertaining. Every cliche you could think of is here. Stupidly moralizing a movie about a blood thirsty savage. But the cinematography is gorgeous, the subtitle script is excellent and Tadanobu 'Kakihara' Asano is great as the heavily-romanticized Genghis Khan.
Just don't go in thinking Mongol is on the same level as Patton, think of it as fiction.
