Review of Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan (2007) by Stuart M — 31 Jan 2010

Gengis Khan always interested me as a historical figure. And this film sets out to detail his life. Of course you can't expect to cover the life of someone who conquered half of the known world in one movie, so there are two more on the way, but even then, this film suffered from unexplained jumps in the narative and it became hard to work out the passage of time.

It also failed to really explain how it came to be that he managed to amass an army by the end. Other than this the film was beautifully shot with some amazing scenery, the acting was good and the fights bloody and brutal.

All in all not to bad, but you might want to rewind towork out some of the jumps and fast forward the slower bits.
