Review of Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan (2007) by Andrew I — 26 Aug 2010
The cinematography is impressive throughout. The story - probably as true a biopic as we're likely to see for Genghis Khan - is so full of ups and downs, it can't fail to hold the viewers' interest.
The battle scenes are fairly prevalent and as violent as one might expect, but not overly so, and about as realistic as anything I've seen. That said, it's not for the faint-hearted. At times, it makes Gladiator look like the Care Bear Movie.
My only qualm is that this is the 1st part of 3 - a kind of Genghis Khan: Year One - and it ended just as I was getting into it. I hope parts 2 & 3 get made soon. If they are as good as this, it will be quite some trilogy.
