Review of Moneyball (2011) by Jacob M — 19 Nov 2012

This was an amazing movie. There is no surprise it was nominated for so many oscars, although it did not win. The directing was fantastic from Benett Miller and terrific performances from two of my favorite actors, Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill. A breakout performance for Hill but this film is probably one of the films that signifies Pitt's journey to credebility for his acting prowess. Brad Pitt for a long time was thought of as more of a hearthrob than a legitiment actor and it wasn't until maybe 12 Monkeys where he began to get noticed by the Academy and others with his nomination for best supporting actor in the Oscars that year. Than afterward he was in Se7en which was another major step and a few years later he starred in the cult-classic Fight Club which started his rein over Hollywood. Although he is extremely well known and has a fantastic filmography, it wasn't until around this movie actually that he began to be taken to accounton a lot of people's lists as one of their favorite actors and a very talented one at that. So this is a major part of Pitt's film history and it will be remembered.

This movie really was an impressive one, in technical and major categories. It was nominated for multiple oscars, but sadly it did not win any. But in all, it was a very well made and well acted movie that is in a lot of people's favorites, I know it's in mine.
