Review of Moneyball (2011) by Jamesl — 25 Sep 2011
Unlike "The Social Network" where the subject matter of computer became secondary to the subject matter of human behavior, this film does not achieve that transformation. One just keeps thinking baseball and more baseball with the occasional glimpse of the human purpose behind it all.
Pitt is an excellent actor but I could not help but think that the script was written to provide him a shot at an Oscar. There is nothing wrong with that but he dominates the film to the point of exhaustion.
The film left me emotionless which I do not think was the intent. A noble effort but I don't think it worked in getting its message about life out.
