Review of Mona Lisa (1973) by Jas?N M — 22 Oct 2009
Remember the private dick from "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?"? That's Bob Hoskins, and he's British. See Hoskins in his home turf of London in full Cockney dialect, roughing up pimps (or ponces, if you like) and getting thrown out of snotty hotels.
Hoskins plays George, a child-like thug just out of prison who takes a job as a driver for a Simone, a high-society whore (Cathy Tyson). When Simone asks George to rescue an under-aged prostitute from the streets, George finds himself divided over his love for Simone and loyalty to his boss, a snarling gangster played by Michael Caine, who should have gotten more screen time for his brilliantly nasty performance.
