Review of Mon Oncle (1958) by Emre T — 20 Feb 2010
Every bit as funny as Mr. Hulot's Holiday, Mon oncle may also be the greatest account of how the first half of the 20th century faded into the second. With workmen already chipping away at its borders, Hulot's world is about to give way to the new order of his sister's neighborhood.
Nine years later, when Playtime was released, that transition is essentially complete.
