Review of Mommie Dearest (1981) by Jake P — 08 Mar 2011
One of the best campiest cult classics you'll ever see. Yes the acting is over the top and it's bad but it's suppose to be and that's what makes this film great. Faye Dunaway gives an over the top performance that's so bad it's amazing.
The plot is sad because it's about child abuse(no wire hangers) and at times funny for the over the top storyline. Examples for the over the top parts are Joan Crawford attacks and strangles her daughter and they get in one hell of a cat fight then there's where Joan gets an axe and cuts her rose bush in the middle of the night and then the most famous scene where Joan attacks her young daughter with wire hangers and then has a complete freak out in the bathroom.
Yes this film won worst film by the razzies and worst actress but it's a cult and it's amazing to see the over the top performances and storyline.
