Review of Mommie Dearest (1981) by Shane S — 06 May 2014
Faye Dunaway gives one of the best performances I've ever seen, being over-the-top because Jane Crawford in real life was over-the-top. It's a role so powerful in a film that's narrative doesn't do enough to support her.
The campy moments happen and some of them are bizarre and funny; but at the end of the day, it is affective movie that deals with the issues of child abuse.
