Review of Mommie Dearest (1981) by Sherry L — 13 Jan 2011
Don't know what I think about this movie, but it's very entertaining in some sort of way.
Based of the biography of Joan Crawford's daughter, Christine.
I never thought that Faye Dunaway would be able to handle this part, but sometimes I even forget that it wasn't really Joan I saw, but actually Faye. Great acting from Faye, that is. Must be incredibly hard to portray such a famous actress that everyone has seen at least ten movies with. She got the speach, all the gestures right.
Of course, one shouldn't take this movie too seriously.
Some of my many favorite quotes;.
"-Helga, I'm not mad at you. I'm mad at the dirt.".
"-Don't fuck with me, fellas! This ain't my first time at the rodeo...".
"-No wire hangers, EVER!!!".
"-Tina, bring me the axe!".
It's something very humorous and campy about this movie. Yet, I can't stop myself from liking it.
PS. I bet that Madonna's daughter will write a similar book in the future.
