Review of Molly's Game (2017) by Dae J — 06 Jan 2018
If you google the name 'Molly Bloom' you'll get many results, story after story about what & who she is. So this is biography of Molly Bloom, her story of the rise & fall of a person who was running a secret high stake poker game. This is interesting, fascinating and even inspiring in some sense, where no matter how much you're fall from grace, redemption is possible, also sometimes, the help that you need is coming from the place where you're least expected.
Strange enough, this film remind me of someone special, my older sister. This story depicts the relationship between the father & daughter dynamic and I have seen this played out in my own family. I think because of that this film is more meaningful than other films that I've seen.
Obvious stand outs are the screenplay by Aaron Sorkin, actors like Jessica Chastain, Idris Elba and Kevin Costner have great scene in the film. If I have to nit-picks, there was a cgi moment that didn't work well, pacing issues and lots of dialogues that if you don't pay attention, you'll miss informations & subtle humors in the film.
Overall great film to watch and cannot wait to add it on my DVD collection ??!!
