Review of Molly's Game (2017) by Cynthia W — 27 Jan 2018
The only real problem with this film is that Sorkin directed it and did nothing to restrain Sorkin the writer. Hence we get pointless discursive lectures on skiing, Freudian misogyny and other topics with no real significance to the story. Perhaps this is inevitable with a story about a poker hostess who catered to famous people. Of course none of those people are named so she may as well have been a poker hostess to plumbers, real estate agents and two bit.
criminals. Which finally forces us to that moment of 'who cares about this story'.
