Review of Mohawk (2018) by E F — 13 Nov 2018
I almost quit after the first HALF HOUR BUT GAVE IT ANOTHER CHANCE. It works as a horror story/morality play . As a period piece it is a mess. By 1814, "Fort George" was no longer in American hands, the British had retaken it.
Some of the early scenes are clearly in a tree farm, the trees are in rows. How do people travel in the wilderness without any gear? What 's with the steampunk sunglasses? The red miniskirt? DId the Mohawk wearing face paint 24/7? Who is the guy with the pipe, and if they are on a clandestine mission, why does he keep smoking, thus advertising his presence for miles? The Niagara frontier campaigns during the war of 1812 were a brutal series of attacks, counterattacks, raids and reprisals.
Plenty to work from, A little research could have made this film more effective.
