Review of Mohawk (2018) by Vikn01776 — 23 Sep 2019
This simply was not a well made film. The only reason the critical reviews are good is due to the subject material and the fact that critics are easily subject to manipulation by making a mediocre film with pop culture political ideals in it. I'm all for those ideals, but I am not for mediocrity masked by regurgitating them to the public.
Female empowerment is an important aspect of our culture, but the heavy handedness with which most films do it nowadays is cringingly bad. Only the most simple minded find anything new or empowering in the basic ideas spouted by the writhing cacophony of screeching voices in 2019. Thos film is far more captain marvel than Mad Max. A halfwits idea of relevance as opposed to something well made. The poor acting and costumes take one out of the film every 5 minutes or so, and the story is as heavy handed as Lenny petting a rabbit.
The film devolved into nonsense when your pregnant "protaganist" survived a gunshot wound to the chest. It became a ludicrous attempt at badassery after that point. The beginning was entertaining, but after a point it became a film that only co scorned itself with making a point as opposed to an entertaining piece of art. I feel amateur filmmakers know they will receive accolades for regurgitating entry level nonsense in 2019, when art has become about virtue signaling instead of making art. NONE of these characters were sympathetic and the only joy of the film comes from seeing a number of awful people get killed unfortunate they didnt kill everyone off...then it may have been an enjoyable hate watch.
