Review of Modern Times (1936) by Ricardo O — 09 Nov 2009
Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times is such a classic piece of slapstick comedy. Although it is considered to be Charles Chaplin's last "silent" film, Chaplin uses sound, vocal, and musical effects throughout but there is still no real dialogue that would make it a talkie.
It is a satire on the dehumanization of the industrialized world. His comic timing as always is pure genius. The score he composed for the film is a classic and the beginning scene working in a factory line is one of the most genius scenes in any comedy.
This is pure entertainment and for once the little tramp finally finds a girl that will stay with him and cherish him. An absolute classic. 10/10.
