Review of Modern Times (1936) by Nataani T — 09 Sep 2011
I understand the appeal and legacy Charlie Chaplin has. I understand the social commentary. I understand his goals and ambitions for the films Chaplin makes. Honestly, I do. But unfortunately for me, his films, his comedy and his general 'act' are trite and cloying.
I have never seen Chaplin's The Tramp as funny or endearing, just condescending and a bit offensive in his general stupidity. I understand that I am utterly alone with this opinion, but there it is.
