Review of Modern Times (1936) by Steven C — 09 Sep 2011
This was my first full Chaplin film, but I can see why it's gone down as Chaplin's best. A fitting end to the silent movie era and the end of his character the Tramp, this film acts as a pretty sharp social commentary on how fast life and technology were progressing and its affect on the American dream.
It amazes me that back then someone was talented enough to write, direct, compose and star in his own films like that. Really genius.
