Review of Modern Times (1936) by Prentis C — 04 Feb 2010
Modern Times is the perfect remedy to the redundant Hollywood trash that appears annualy from the America's film industry.
One would think that a silent film would fail in today's era of movies, but I honestly enjoyed it. The coordinated, yet somehow graceful, movement of Chaplain was superb. The sped up motion along with the dry humor made for a very enjoying film.
The mocking of the industrial machinery also played a key role in this film's success. The enormouse gear wheels, automated feeding machines, and endless products rolled along in the assembly lines with workers struggling to catch up made it appear to the viewer that maybe this whole industrial idea wasn't such a good idea in the first place...
I give Modern Times a 100% Tomato Rating.
