Review of Mobsters (1991) by Amber T — 10 Oct 2009
I can honestly say up until this point, I've never seen a bad mafia movie. But this Hollywood bastardized version of the story of Charlie "Lucky" Luciano is such a trash movie that I can't help but point it out.
For starters, the film's script reads like it was written by a twelve year old who just either read or watched "The Godfather" and thought it would be cool to look up some information on a real life mobster and make a movie. Then we have the terrible acting ability of Christian Slater, whom sports the worst Bronx accent I've heard in quite some time. Heck, even Michael Gambon shows up here as the head of one of the two families, which is sad to me. In fact the only some what redeeming quality of this film was seeing the late Chris Penn, whom is always a joy to watch, despite that he only played one type of character in all his movies.
Trash, skip it.
