Being a musician myself, I loved this movie. I felt like Denzel's character reflects on a lot of serious musicians who tend to put the music first before the people. Unfortunately, he learned that you have to have wonderful people in your life and not just your passion of music.
Spike Lee always presents things in a cool way.
