Review of Mistress America (2015) by Lisa R — 16 Sep 2015
Mistress America.
A college freshman's forlorn life does an about-face when she makes contact with her soon-to-be stepsister.
Noah Baumbach's latest film is a hipster's paradise of quirky characters and quirky dialogue both encompassed with a quirky soundtrack. Unfortunately, it's too much quirk. The cornucopia of dialogue alone is excessively tiresome while the acting is occasionally awkward and out of place. Sometimes less is more.
Grade: C+.
Big Al says Mistress America is a renter.
