Review of Mistress America (2015) by Chris F — 30 Dec 2015
Mistress America is a brilliant film from acclaimed indie director Noah Baumbach. The film is very infectious with its fast pace. Greta Gerwig shines in her role. She steals nearly every scene she's in.
Lola Kirke definitely holds her on. For an actress who hasn't been in a lot of movies, she is really good in her role. They both have a great amount of chemistry. The film has a lot of smart, witty, and funny dialogue.
The screenplay from Noah Baumbach and Greta Gerwig lets you get interested in these characters. If you are expecting a laugh out loud comedy, you will be disappointed. The only other Noah Baumbach film I've seen in While We're Young.
I loved that movie. I love this one even more! This is definitely one of my favorite films of the year.
